In the recent March budget 23 “ 24 the Chief Minister Sawant had presented and earmarked Rs 247 crore for new projects like the Ambedkar Bhavan at Porvorim and Green Hydrogen R & D Centre and Rs 250 crore for Salvador do Mundo “ Chorao bridge and foot overbridge at Fulamcho Khuris --- as well. But of four new projects earmarked the Salvador do Mundo-Chorao bridge is not a new project, it is in the news for the last 20 years and reeling till date under the BJP Government promises. Budget presentation is the public money and it should be implemented in the spirit of what has been earmarked.
It is evident that the progressive wind has blown to Valpoi, Sattari. Recently, the Chief Minister while inaugurating there the Paikul bridge, Guleli, Sattari has said that it is the best infrastructure and development for the people of Sattari and is planning for the Sanvordem bridge and the foundation stone will be laid within the next two months to give connectivity link and progress of Sattari. The people of Chorao are eagerly waiting for their island link to the main land to bring all round progress, but over the years it has remained a pipe dream.
The Chief Minister likely should kindly explain to the islanders when will the Salvador do Mundo “ Chorao bridge, a Sagarmala project, see the light of day.
