Whiff of a scandal that failed to rock the State

Apropos to the report "Cabinet minister involved in sex scandal : Congress" (The Goan Everyday, November 30, 2021). Girish Chodankar & co have lost the plot hook, line and sinker. The timing of these so-called revelations raises more eyebrows than questions it was supposed to raise. An unnamed minister in the cabinet of CM Dr Pramod Sawant is accused of #MeToo ! The woman whose modesty is allegedly outraged is using Chodankar & co as proxies to level these allegations.

The persons who are sitting in judgement have seen videos, WhatsApp chats and recordings of obscene phone calls. The protagonist was allegedly forced to go in for an abortion. Can the evidence withstand the scrutiny of the court? In his defence the high profile mover and shaker of Goa's political elite can always say that he is being framed ahead of assembly elections that are just two months away.
And, as for the WhatsApp chats, he does not recall ever having chatted with a woman in this manner. Maybe even those chats are fabricated with a view to assassinating his character on the eve of polls. The allegations cannot withstand the scrutiny of the law. Goa Congress has tied itself in the knots. Goa BJP is once again having a last laugh. So much for a scandal that failed to shake Goa.
