Goa Fisheries Director has recently been removed from the position by the Goa government. This comes in the wake of a serious health crisis at Cutbona Jetty. Why was Fisheries Minister Nilkant Harlankar also not facing appropriate action from CM Pramod Sawant; as it was a clear case of serious misgovernance by the respective minister. And this Cutbona mess is not the only thing, there are numerous wrong goings under the current Fisheries Minister's watch including the highly expensive/luxurious and unproductive Norway junket; which included the Fisheries minister and Director. This is just one example where the Goa Chief Minister does not take suitable action against his own ministers for failed governance or high corruption for that matter. There are numerous cases including hill cutting, land filling/conversions/frauds, sound/environmental pollution, jobs recruitment fraud, power scam and other scams; involving many of Goa's current ministers. Another very disturbing example was that of the Chief Secretary Goel involved in fraudulent land purchases/conversions. Governance starts from the top i.e. the Chief Minister and his Cabinet. One cannot expect clean governance from directors who report to incompetent/corrupt ministers or senior officials for that matter.
