A 23-year-old woman (a native of Karnataka who was working as an apprentice at a convention centre in Dona Paula) lost her life in a tragic road accident near Dona Paula late Sunday night, while her colleague sustained serious injuries after their two-wheeler was struck by a high-end SUV. According to police, the SUV that was involved in the crash was being driven at a very high speed by a youth from Vasco (reportedly the son of a businessman) and bore a temporary registration number. Now the big question is if the SUV had a temporary registration number then how the youngster was allowed to bring the vehicle on road in the first place and drive it at such a very high speed, and that too at midnight on the Bambolim-Dona Paula road, near Manipal Hospital. I think that the police should conduct a thorough investigation into the above incident and check whether the youngster was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash rather than shielding him.
