The great Goan tamasha scheduled for February 14 will witness 12 political parties and 301 candidates contesting the 2022 polls.
Goa has the dubious distinction of having the highest number of MLAs switching parties. 15 of the 17 elected MLAs of the Congress switched sides in 5 years a record “unparalleled in the history of Indian democracy”.
The same Congress has now taken its candidates to 3 different religious deities and taken a public oath against defecting to other parties. Not to be left behind, AAP has likewise made its candidates pledge against defections with affidavits.
While no one will believe this hypocritical display of sincerity and solidarity by these ‘party-hoppers’ and “men of straw”, it is almost sure now that not even the gods and goddesses invoked will be in a position to save them from the fate that awaits them on D-day February 14.
