Will recruitment for govt jobs be strictly on merit?

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has issued deadline of December 31 for completing recruitment process in various government departments. However it is not being known whether the selection of candidates would be done strictly on merit basis. Issuing powers to the departmental heads would only mean interference of politicians in producing a list of their own candidates for the concerned posts. With the Assembly elections anticipated in February 2022, the recruitment process is bound to be a biased one. Talented candidates would face injustice for not securing the said posts. Of course, better sense should prevail during the said recruitments and it is efficient candidates who should secure government jobs irrespective of any discrimination. It is time for the CM to judge this aspect quite seriously and decide accordingly.
