Working of coaching classes needs to be monitored

This is with reference to the report, "SC slams coaching classes…………- The Goan Everyday - August 6,  2024." The Supreme Court couldn't have put it better. Yes, coaching classes seem like death chambers, looking at the condition, the circumstances in which they operate without concern for the safety of the aspiring youngsters. There is an urgent need to monitor and regulate the working of coaching classes. However, in its broader perspective, one needs to relook the concept of ‘coaching classes’.  There was a time when there were what we called, private tuitions, in somebody's home and importantly, such tuition classes were meant for those children who were weak in studies and lagging behind the others academically. Over time however, tuition classes started to mushroom commercially and later coaching classes. But the irony is, such classes were catering to those who were already quite good in their studies. Coaching classes today, seem to be turning our children into race horses and today we see competition taking its toll. Where are we heading?
