Xantilicious August immunity dose

Xantilicious - It's the month of August and let us follow the tradition passed on to us by our ancestors to relish the concoction of palm jaggery and coconut, the first thing in the morning as nature's immunity dose to ward off the ill effects of the common cough and cold. It is believed that during the month of August many people fall sick because of the incessant rains and the resultant change in the weather pattern. Since coconut and jaggery are our food staples and available in abundance, let us follow this time tested tradition and keep sickness at bay. Another auspicious day of the month is August 15, Independence Day which also coincides with the feast of the Assumption and is linked with another Goan delicacy of patoleos or patoddios, made of grated coconut, steamed rice and jaggery and wrapped in a turmeric  leaf. So let us enjoy this tradition which is the harbinger of good health. Wishing you a happy and healthy month of August.
