Even road-roller is not safe from theft in Goa

One has heard of pickpockets, chain-snatching, house-breaks, etc. But has anyone heard of a road-roller weighing several tonnes being stolen? This must be some sort of a record for the heaviest item to be stolen. Recently a road-roller worth around Rs 8 lakh was reportedly stolen from Chicolna, Bogmalo in the early hours prompting the Vasco police to register a theft case. In Goa even a road-roller cannot be considered safe from theft. It is learnt that the road-roller was parked by the roadside when an unknown person used a hydra crane to lift it and load it on a heavy trailer truck before transporting it to the Birla area. Obviously the theft went unnoticed as no one would ever suspect that a road-roller is being stolen. People might have thought that the road-roller was being shifted by the owner. This only goes to show the audacity of the thief and fearlessness of the law. Fortunately the theft case has been cracked and the police arrested a resident of Mangor Hill. It would have probably been dismantled and sold as scrap.

The Bombay High Court's canteen licence was cancelled.…
