The Goa government must expedite pending Mhaje Ghar Yojana applications before the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) comes into force, as certain scheme benefits, regularisation orders and Sanads may be restricted thereafter. Nodal officers should track applications, assist applicants and resolve administrative delays. Applicants visiting offices are repeatedly told they will receive phone calls but remain uninformed about their application status. The government must provide timely updates and ensure transparency.
Despite the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) introduced to streamline the Mhaje Ghar Yojana and the Goa Regularisation of Unauthorised Construction Act (GRUCA), procedural hurdles persist. Applications concerning houses built before 1972 are reportedly kept pending when Form I and XIV does not mention the mundkar’s name, despite the name appearing in Form 9 and Form 3 and the house being shown on the survey plan. The government must resolve this technical issue by considering the relevant documents together and expedite the disposal of genuine applications.
