The attack on a pregnant woman and her husband at Bastora, along with reports of molestation and sexual assaults on women, including elderly citizens, has raised serious concerns about law and order in Goa. Such incidents create fear and insecurity, particularly among women and senior citizens who deserve to feel safe both at home and in public. The government and police must ensure that every complaint is handled promptly, professionally and without bias. Public confidence in the police depends on fair investigations, timely action and equal treatment of all complainants, irrespective of influence or status. Goa once enjoyed a reputation for an efficient and respected police force, with many dedicated officers who upheld justice with integrity. Those high standards must be restored. Any police personnel found neglecting their duties or violating rules should face strict action. As Chief Minister and Home Minister, the government must strengthen policing, improve accountability and act decisively to restore public trust. Goans deserve to live in a peaceful and secure state where justice is swift and the rule of law prevails.
