There are reports in newspapers that in Karnataka 87% of nozzles checked at petrol pumps showed under-supply of fuels while filling vehicles. Moreover there is no marking on the nozzles to indicate the kind of fuel being supplied. Added to that the receipts issued by petrol pumps do not specify what fuel is being given which are all the rights of the citizen under the Consumer Act for supply of goods and services. Then FDA Commissioner Mundhe in Mumbai has brought out that medical devices are being sold at exorbitant profit in hospitals. Devices that cost Rs 11 are being sold at more than Rs 300. This is a shame when citizens are being overcharged at a time when they are in distress and not in a frame of mind to question bills on the supplies being used to treat their near and dear ones. This is sheer exploitation by the hospitals. Narendra Modi and his government should stop preening and indulging in self-congratulation and concentrate on improvement of proper regulation and supply of goods and services in the country.
