The village panchayats and municipalities saw chaotic situation where villagers were seen queuing up for forms to enrol for free LPG cylinders scheme under the Goa Ujjwala Yojana scheme. There was confusion of who would be beneficiary whether everyone or below poverty line people but a large number of anxious people returned home without the forms as forms were unavailable. This confusion would have not happened if clarity was given by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant while announcing the Ujjwala scheme as who would be the actual beneficiaries of the scheme and eligibility. In the computer age the eligibility and other criteria could have been made available through Goa online the official website of the government this would have been a easy and viable process from the comfort of the homes. Even those who are not computer or internet savvy can go to the government help desk or MLAs panchayat members or municipality councillors to seek assistance to fill the Ujjwala Yojana scheme. This could have avoided or prevented overcrowding and unnecessary queues at panchayats and municipalities. Such welfare schemes should be accorded to deserving poor citizens.
