Rising snake bite cases cause for concern

Snake bites and related deaths are alarmingly high in India. In the past three months alone, Goa has reported over 1,700 snake bite cases, highlighting a serious public health concern.  To reduce snake encounters, it is vital to keep house surroundings clean and free from dry leaves, garbage, tall grass, and unwanted debris—common hiding places for snakes. Be especially careful when walking through paddy fields, dry hills, and forest areas filled with tall grass. Mind your steps at all times and stay alert to avoid disturbing snakes. We earnestly request young girls and boys to avoid going to lonely or secluded places for secret meetings or love affairs, as these areas may increase the risk of snake encounters. Snake venom can be deadly and requires urgent medical treatment. Delays in care can lead to fatal consequences, so awareness and prompt action are crucial. We urge everyone to maintain cleanliness and educate their families about snake bite prevention and first aid. Together, we can protect lives and create a safer environment for all.
