Swastik is organizing “Pratidhwani” - an Indian classical music concert for the eighth consecutive year in memory of Late Francis Rodrigues on Sunday, March 3 at Institute Menezes Braganza hall, Panaji.
Born in Pednem, Francis Rodrigues used to sing Indian classical music and Marathi devotional songs (bhaktigeet). He performed in Goa and Maharashtra and created his own identity. But at a young age of 36 he died of cardiac arrest.
In memory of this artist who was born in a catholic family, ‘Swastik’ has been organizing Indian Classical concert for the past six years. On this occasion, a felicitation programme of Francis’ mother is organised and financial help is also provided to her.
The first performance will begin at 9:30 am with classical vocal performance by Mugdha Gaonkar. This will be followed by a classical vocal recital by Gaurish Talwalkar at 10:30 am. The first session will conclude with sitar recital by Vinayak Chittar.
The second session will begin at 4pm with a classical vocal performance by Veena Dessai. This will be followed by a tabla and pakhawaj jugalbandi between Dr Uday Kulkarni and Kishor Teli. This music concert will be concluded with a classical vocal recital by Dr Pravin Gaonkar.
The accompanists for the above concert are Sangeet Mishra, Subhash Fatarpekar, Dayesh Kossambe, Amar Mopkar, Mahesh Dhamaskar, Dr Uday Kulkarni, Dattaraj Mhalshi, Charudatta Gawas and Sanket Khalap. The program will be compered by Hetal Gangani. This concert is open and free to all music lovers.
