Baba’s new laddoo

Baba’s new laddoo Captured by : PG1. DC_1

Remember Baba Sehgal? If you do, well, then you’ll know just how ‘precious’ a new Baba Sehgal release is. Yes, he’s still making music. Good music, you ask? Now that is a matter of contention. Just like beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, good music depends on just how tone deaf you are not. To some Baba Sehgal is the epitome of cool. To others he’s a nuisance. For us, he’s a way to poke some fun at everyone. Why? Because we can, and we’re not ashamed of it. Because Baba is a pillar of enlightenment, in many ways than one. He can be whatever you want him to be.

This time around, in his new song ATM, he’s a shining star in a dark alley where you could get mugged, he’s your laddoo when you’re standing in line for money. Baba’s new song talks about the demonitisation process and also, in a way, praises Modi for this move. But that’s not why we’re talking about this video. We don’t want to get political here. In the chaos of new releases on the big screen, the occasional funny television scene or trailer that you just must see, we forget that back home, there is a lot of scope for one little video to turn into a few minutes of mirth for the entire office.
