Sometimes the most basic substances are raw materials for the finest pieces of art. Carpe Diem gives you the opportunity to appreciate works of art made of wood, clay and glass art, at an exhibition titled ‘Born from Nature’.
As part of the exhibition, the cosy art gallery located in the picturesque beach village of Majorda in South Goa will exhibit works of art by Sandeep Manchekar, Verodina Desouza, Ramdas Gadekar, Nandini Datta, Anjali Aney and Celio Mascarenhas.
Nandini Dutta has learnt ceramic classes at the Sanskriti Anandgram in Delhi, where she managed to learn the craft of mould-making by hand. She has also studied at the National School of Glass in Orrefors, Sweden and spent more time learning the craft at Designskole in Copenhagen.
Verodina’s alma mater is the Teachers Training Center in Mumbai, where she had enrolled after studying at the Goa College of Art. She has graduated in her profession from a potter to a sculptor.
Sandeep Manchekar hails from Mumbai and has a passion for ceramics and clay since childhood because he claims it can the medium can express all his moods, thoughts, shades in his day to day life.
Anjali Aney is a potter from Alibaug, who finds clay “wonderfully therapeutic”. Celio Mascarenhas is an artist who also runs an art gallery in South Goa and Ramdas Gadekar is an upcoming artist and sculptor who specialises in Terracotta and Ceramic art.
