Meet Mr. Dalrymple, the photographer
Captured by : pick of the day 1

For most of us William Dalrymple is a man whose flowing hand has authored many a book, someone who has made Indian histories popular and fashionable and as the co-founder of the immensely popular Jaipur Literary festival, arguably one of the most popular literary events in the country.

But for a refreshing change, the Sunaparanta: Goa Center of the Arts through an exhibition ‘The Writer’s Eye’ is showcasing for the first time ever photographs by William Dalrymple curated by writer and Sensorium co-founder Siddharth Dhanvant Shanghvi.

In a suite of black and white photographs, shot over two years, William Dalrymple brings elegance, inquiry and grace to the photographic form. Powerful and precise, the pictures in The Writer’s Eye are documents of landscape, conveying potent solitude and brooding strokes. The beloved author of scores of acclaimed books returns to a visual medium he first worked with in collegiate days, armed now with over two decades of composure and brilliance.

HarperCollins India will also bring out a limited edition book, The Writer’s Eye, with an essay and photographs by William Dalrymple and an introduction by Shanghvi.
