There's something about Bollywood tunes that is just so infectious and even if you choose to hate this music you pretty much cannot escape it here in India. And love it or ate it, you are bound to somehow recognise some of the popular tunes and even know a few words to it. And given it's huge popularity it is not surprising that even Hollywood has been taken in with the whole film song craze and there have been quite a few Hollywood movies that have in fact included Bollywood tunes in them. Here's a look at a few

Moulin Rouge

After Urmila Matondkar danced to Chamma Chamma in 1998 film China Gate, it was time for Nicole Kidman to do the tango the the same tune in Moulin Rouge directed by Baz Luhrmann which came out in 2001. The film which is set in the 19th century sees Christian played by Ewan McGregor , a young poet fall in love with Kidman who is a courtesan in Paris ans star of the legendary Moulin Rouge. The climax of the film features a play written by Christian about an Indian maharaja, and a beautiful courtesan in his durbar and that is where the Bollywood tune comes in. Other Bollywood tunes that also made it to the film were Tera Rang Balle Balle from Soldier and Makhna from Bade Miyan Chote Miya.

Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind

The film sees Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet playing polar opposites and in one of the scenes Lata Mangeshkar singing Wada Na Tod adds layers to the love story. The tune which is originally from

the film Dil Tujhko Diya which came out in 1987 is played when Kate announces that she is going to marry Jim one day. Interestingly, the song, Mera mann tera pyaasa, from the Hindi film, Guide, was also used in this film.

Deadpool

Yup, this hilarious movie starring Ryan Reynolds also had a Bollywood track on it. The tune Mera Joota Hai Japani from the Raj Kapoor -Nargis starrer Hindi classic Shree 420, is used in the opening and the closing scenes of the film. According to reports, director Tim Miller heard the tune a long time ago in New Zealand and fell in love with it. While shooting for Deadpool he was very much interested in using it in the film and after the cast and crew agreed, he decided to use it. The movie also featured Kabhi Humne Nahin Socha Tha.

Inside Man

A R Rahman's track Chaiyya Chaiyya from Dil Se was a huge hit after it came out and years later it continues to be one of Bollywood's much loved tracks. It is no surprise then that Hollywood couldn;t quite resist the charm of this tune either. The song was used in the opening credits for the film Inside Man which starred Denzel Washington, Jodie Foster and Willian Dafoe.

The Accidental Husband

One more A R Rahman composed track that made it to a Hollywood film. Chalka Chalka was first featured in the Rani Mukherjee-Vivek Oberoi starrer Saathiya. The tune was then used in American comedy The Accidental Husband starring Uma Thurman and Colin Firth. The film also featured other songs by Rahman, including Yaro yarodi, Swasamae and Rang de, from the films Alaipayuthey, Thenali and Thakshak respectively.

Ghost World

Director Terry Zwigoff stated that as soon as he saw the tune Jaan Pehechaan Ho, from the 1965 Bollywood production Gumnaam, he knew he had to have it for his film Ghost World. Calling it one of the wildest, craziest tunes he had ever seen, the tune was used in the opening credit scenes of the film which starred Scarlett Johansson, Thora Birch and Brad Renfro and was a high school comedy-drama.
