Ever since the early times, mankind has believed itself to be connected to the cosmos; that planets and divine powers play a role in determining our nature and the events that occur in our lives.
While some systems depend on the sun and the moon to decipher our connection to the cosmos, the field of numerology holds that our destiny is shaped by numbers.
“When a baby is born, it is born on a particular date, the energy of the baby vibrates with the number. Similarly, each planet in the cosmos has its own number, and thus the baby gets connected to the planet. The characteristics of numbers and planets thus influence the characteristics of the baby,” explains numerologist Sonia Kamat.
Thus, according to numerology, the birth numbers have a big role to play in shaping the nature as well as the destiny of the child.
“From out birth details to bank accounts or cards, numbers follow us everywhere and play an important role in our lives,” says Kamat, adding that people rely on numerology for taking various decisions ranging from education to career.
“Personally, I have found that I cannot analyse a child below the age of 12,” she states.
However, she does help young parents find the best suited name for their baby by analysing the compatibility of baby names with the baby’s birth number. Here, the calculations are based only on the date of birth and not the time.
Most of Kamat’s clients are businessmen, while parents wishing to know the marital prospects for their sons/daughters come in a close second.
“Then I check whether the boy’s name and the girl’s name synchronise according to numerology before giving the go-ahead. I do not rely on traditional Kundali for the calculation,” the consultant informs.
“Businessmen come to ask whether it will be good to enter into partnership with someone. Again, I check whether the birth details of the partners are compatible. The calculation also takes into account the company name,”she says.
In case it does not work out, Kamat lays out the reasons why the venture is failing and asks the stakeholders not to enter into partnership. “If the company’s name shows up to be a problem, then I suggest a change in the same,”she adds. “Everything is based on the vibration of numbers.”
Some of Kamat’s clients also include the who’s who of Goan politics. “Politicians take the help of numerology, especially during elections,” she states. “They want to know what would be the best day and time to file nominations, and even what car they should use while heading to file the same.”
One key thing about consulting a numerologist is to give timely feedback, notes the numerology consultant.
“Once a businessman who sought my advice later stopped practicing numerology guidelines and had a major problem, but he contacted me only after one year. I usually need feedback within two months of consultation.”
Most of the times, the advise works favourably for people, and sceptics turn into loyal clients, says Kamat.
“I once met a businessman and out of intuition suggested he avoid taking a particular road to work as I felt that there could be an accident. An accident really happened on that road on that day, and after that this person has been consulting me since the last five years.”
Kamat further states that numerology is a science and has been contributed to by the ancient Greek mathematician Pythagoras who is considered the father of numerology.
“In India, numerology has evolved since the time of Mahabharata where we believe Shakuni did some tricks using numbers.”
However, the numerologist notes that perception of numbers too differ in the East and the West.
“In India we believe the number 13 to be auspicious whereas the Westerners believe it to be unlucky. So accordingly, numerology too varies according to countries and cultures.”
