Ganesh Chaturthi, the festival of hospitality, traditions and great food is here. And to make things little more special Cidade de Goa is adding its unique flavour to the celebrations by serving authentic vegetarian Saraswat Thali throughout the festive season.
The Saraswat cuisine is the traditional food of Saraswat Brahmins from the Konkan region. It’s a rich bouquet of delicacies prepared with locally grown vegetables, fruits and spices. Specially cooked during auspicious occasions, the Saraswat cuisine is an essential part of festivities in the this region.
With the aim of giving a true home made feel to the cuisine, the team visited Hindu homes to learn the age old methods of preparing this cuisine and ensuring that the flavours were just right.
“This is the second year that we are having this thali festival. Last year we had a very positive response with suggestions to increase the duration of the festival. Also, a lot of people are travelling at this time but usually like to go to their hometown at festival time. So it made sense to commence this food festival before Ganesh,” says Executive Chef Sunit Sharma.
The special Ganesh Chaturthi menu which will continue till September 20 at Café Azul includes mouth watering dishes like Khakhatem, Moogacho Gathi, Keleanchi Fodi, Sol Kadi, Ambade Uddamethi, etc.
