One of the first things that you will notice about Avanie Joshi is her radiant smile, the kind that is simply infectious. And with her easy going bubbly nature and visible self confidence, it is easy to understand why this young TV actress and singer is such a hit among Indian youth today. Indeed, despite being injured, making it difficult for her to talk, she happily chatted and laughed away as she talked about her journey so far, hours before taking the stage at the annual Spree 2016 organied by BITS Pilani, Zunarinagar.

Having acted in popular teenage based TV shows like Gumrah, Halla Bol, Confessions of Indian Teenager etc, 23 year old Joshi made a foray into the world of music about a year ago quite by chance. “Although my dad is a trained classical singer and I have a lot of friends who were into music, I never thought if giving it a try before. However I was going through a rought patch in life and to divert my mind I began Djing and singing,” reveals the self confessed Honey Singh fan. The Youtube channel that has made her singing star though, was all her friend's doing. “ My friend literally forced me to start the channel. I thought it was a rubbish idea but I decided to record a cover, make a video and post it anyway,” she says. The song generated quite a buzz and Joshi kept at it. Since then quite a few of her videos have gone viral online. And indeed, with soulful renditions of popular tracks like Main Hoon Hero Tera from Hero, Hasi Ban Gaye and Pal, all it takes is one listen and Joshi is bound to travel to the top of your list of favorite Youtube artists.

“ To be able to create an online buzz you need to pick the latest songs to do covers on so that people will watch it. If you are choosing a track which isn't new, make sure that the rendition is something totally different and catchy. Luckily so far I have had a good intuition in picking my songs,” she says.

Apart from this, Joshi has also worked on the song Chooley Aasmaan for Halla Bol TV show and done many shows with the Meet Brothers. She has also featured on quote a number of Flipp ads. “ I am currently working on the cover of Judai from Jannat which should be out in a month's time. This will be something totally different as I have completely changed the feel of it,” she informs. But Joshi doesn't intend to only remain doing covers and has in fact started working on an original track which she says will be 'trippy'. “I've written about two or three songs and submitted it to different composers. Let's see how that pans out,” she says.

Ans as far as her acting goes, Joshi hopes to get into movies too sometime in the future. “I'll need to shrink a little before that as the camera tends to add at least 10 percent to your frame,” she chuckles and then adds on a serious note, “ Getting into movies is a tricky situation. I have had offers but most of them from B or C grade films and agreeing to these could jeopardize your career so you have to choose wisely,” she says
