Marking the World Diabetes Day, Department of Health Services, Government of Goa along with the Novo Nordisk Education Foundation, are together organising a Cyclothon. It is well known that Diabetes is a silent killer. The state government is also working hard on tackling diabetes, and aspect is being taken into consideration, such as early detection, having diabetes clinics all across the State of Goa. Cycling is an intense physical activity that helps reduce diabetes. The Cyclothon event, which has also been recognized by the National Health Mission as one of the unique programmes being conducted by the State of Goa along with the Novo Nordisk Education Foundation.
The goal of the programme is to move towards a better quality of life and fitness in line with the vision of honorable Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi. In a special message about the upcoming event, honorable Minister for Health Shri Vishwajit Rane stated,
“Here, on the occasion of the World Diabetes Day, I appeal to the citizen to be aware and undertake lifestyle changes. We have excellent awareness programmes carried out in Goa and we are stressing on early detection and would like to appeal to each one of you to join us in the Cyclothon on the 15th of November 2019 at 6.30 am in order to create awareness of Diabetes and how being fit will help in changing our lives and this is one of the activities that one can undertake.”
Cyclothon will be held at Kala Academy on November 15 from 6:30 am to 9:30 am, and will be flagged off by honorable Minister for Health Shri Vishwajit Rane.
