A unique food festival, scheduled to be held on Saturday at the Taleigao Church Square, offers you an opportunity to not only sample Goan homemade food, but also know and see the utensils in which the curries are boiled and meats are traditionally roasted.
The Centro Social e Cultural Sao Miguel de Taleigao will be organising its first ever Taleigao Food Festival, commonly known as ‘Amchez Daiz’ on January 16, at the Taleigao Church Square ‘Adro’ from 7 pm onwards.
The festival will showcase the rituals and rigor which goes into the cooking of traditional Goan food at the venue by the villagers to the tune of a cultural programme comprising of Konkani and Portuguese songs. Traditional dances such as ‘Fugdi’ and ‘Dhalo’ also will be staged by the local artists from Taleigao to complete the Entertainment package.
To give the viewer a slice of what life in a Goan kitchen may have been like in the past, there will also be on display cooking utensils, other kitchen appliances and other various items of household use.
