The festival is scheduled to be held from August 18 to 20 and will feature some of his noted Kannada films at Maquinez Palace, Auditorium 1.
During the three day film festival, Kasarvalli's four films which have all won national awards, will be screened . All the movies are with English subtitles.
Kasarvalli will be present on the inaugural day and he will be felicitated by the Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG) and Goa Kannad Samaj. He will also be present throughout the festival to interact with the audience after every movie screening.
This festival is open to Cinephile Film Club members and the general public. Seating will be strictly on first come first serve basis. As a regular Cinephile Film Club screening, on Thursday, August 27, the film Riding the Stallion of a Dream, directed by Girish Kasarvalli will be screened in addition to the film festival schedule.
Ghatashraddha
(The Ritual)

Synopsis: Ghatashraddha is based on a novella by eminent Kannada writer U. R Ananthamurthy. A young Bhrahmin Vedic school student, who is from an aristocratic family, befriends his school master's daughter who is a pregnant widow. The boy tries but fails in concealing his friend's pregnancy. The widow has an abortion forced on her, has the eponymous ritual performed on her and is excommunicated. The student returns home as his school shuts down.
Dweepa

Nagi is the pillar in her small family that includes her husband and her rigid father-in law, who is deeply rooted to his land. Facing losing her home and a jealous husband, she proves her strength.

Synopsis:
Hasina who marries auto driver Yakub against his mother's wishes. The couple have three daughters, the visually impaired Munni, Shubby and Habeeb. Pregnant with their fourth child, the couple breaks social codes and do a pregnancy scan to ascertain the baby's gender. When Yakub realises it is yet another girl, he turns abusive and neglectful, eventually leaving Hasina to fend for herself.

The story revolves around Irya, a grave digger who believes in Siddhas, liberated souls. According to Irya, if a Sidhha appear in his dream, it signifies a death in the village.
Patriotic Film Festival
The Entertainment Society of Goa in association with the Directorate of Film Festivals (DFF) is organising a Patriotic Film Festival on the occasion of India's 70 years of Independence. The festival will be held from August 14 to August 16 at Maquinez Palace.
"With the initiative of ‘70 Saal Azaadi, Yaad Karo Qurbani', we aim to pay tribute to the freedom fighters of India and remember their supreme sacrifices made during the freedom movement" said Rajendra Talak, ESG vice- chairman.
He added that the plan is to screen these films jointly in association with all Ravindra Bhavan's in Goa.
"We have invited students from schools and higher secondaries based in and around Panaji for the screening," added Talak.
The films that will be screened at 10 am during the Patriotic Film festival in Panaji are as follows:
