The second edition of the four-day Goa Belgaum Expo 2026 was inaugurated on Thursday at the SGPDA grounds in Margao, celebrating culture, commerce, and the long-standing bond between Goa and Belgaum.
The Expo showcases a vibrant mix of cultural attractions and a wide range of consumer goods, while further strengthening business ties between the two cities.
Organised by Prudent Network, the Expo revolves around the theme, “Come, Experience Belgaum in Goa.” The event was inaugurated by PWD Minister Digambar Kamat amidst the rhythmic beats of traditional dol and tashas. The ceremony was attended by SGPDA Chairman and MLA Krishna Salkar, BJP State President Damu Naik, Margao Municipal Chairperson Damu Shirodkar, and Fomento Director Joe Luis, among other dignitaries.
In his address, PWD Minister Digambar Kamat highlighted the special relationship shared by Goa and Belgaum over the years. He congratulated Prudent Network for organising the Expo, noting that it plays a significant role in strengthening ties between the two regions. “I am happy that the Expo has now become an annual feature. I can already see crowds visiting the stalls on the very first day. Belgaum has long been a favourite destination for the people of Goa,” he said.
SGPDA Chairman Krishna Salkar echoed similar sentiments, stating that Goa and Belgaum share a unique connection, with many Goans traditionally travelling to Belgaum for wedding shopping and other purchases. “The Goa Belgaum Expo at the SGPDA grounds offers people the convenience of making these purchases right here in Goa,” he said, while commending Prudent Network for the initiative.
BJP State President Damu Naik fondly recalled the days when Goan youth would travel to Belgaum on weekends to watch newly released films. “There has always been a strong bond between Goa and Belgaum. Apart from shopping for textiles and garments, Goans also visited Belgaum to enjoy its pleasant climate,” he remarked.
In his welcome address, Fomento Director Joe Luis described Season II of the Expo as an effort to bring Belgaum to Goa. Expressing confidence in the power of trade to deepen ties, he noted that the number of participants has doubled this year. “Belgaum is the heart of commerce and business in Karnataka, while Margao is the commercial capital of Goa. I am confident that trade will further strengthen the relationship between the two cities,” he said.
