Government High School Malkarnem wins National Award for “Swachh Vidyalaya”

Government high school Malkarnem, Quepem has been awarded "Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar" - the National Award for the best school, instituted by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. Of India. Over 10 lakh schools all over India and all the government schools and higher secondaries from Goa were the participants of the "Puraskar". The award was announced last year in the month of July. The selection process went through many stages throughout the year. The evaluation was done by the panel of judges at District, State and National Level. Evaluation at National Level was done by UNICEF.
The headmistress of the school, Sindhu Prabhu Desai Nayak was actively involved in every step of the entire process throughout the year. The e-project prepared by the Headmistress, submitted in the initial stages of evaluation process was selected as the best one in the state and it had earned 93% score. The final stage of appraisal consisted of preparing a documentary of the school. The documentary won myriad hearts and was announced as the best one. The script writing and the voice-over for the documentary was given by Headmistress Sindhu Prabhu Desai Nayak. The documentary was shown at the state level award function honoured by Shri Ranbir Singh, IAS, the State Secretary of Education, North Goa Collector Smt. Nila Mohanan, IAS, Director of Education, Shri G.P. Bhat, Director of SCERT, Shri Nagaraj Honnikeri, Shri Kanta Patnekar, Chairman of GEDC and other officials of the Department of Education. The stakeholders of the school were praised by the dignitaries.
Headmistress of the award winning school Sindhu Prabhu Desai Nayak stated that it is not only her hard work and dedication but also the efforts of the teachers and the students which has brought laurels to the school. She also expressed her gratitude to the PTA chairman, Shri Rajesh Gaonkar and other members of the PTA for extending their support during the endeavour. The National award will be conferred jn at the award ceremony to be held on 1st September at New Delhi.
