Yuva organized a tree plantation programme with Dr Kedar Padte’s One World and Forest Department recently in Dona Leonar memorial high school, Porvorim.
Saplings of mango, chiku, jamun, almond, hibiscus, etc were planted in the school complex by over 60 students. The programme was graced by Raghuvir Mahale, Yuva founder, Sudhir Agshikar, advisor of Yuva, Sheela Jaiwant, school administrator, Chitra Sawant, headmistress, Tushar Narvekar, Daisy D’Souza, Chanda, Sharana and other teaching staff. John Vaz, Diksha Shetye, ladies representative of Yuva, Sanath Bharne, environment incharge along with Forest department officials.
Forest officials educated the students about scientific names of the saplings and how to take care of them so they grow bigger. Yuva members taught students how to plant saplings and water them regularly. Raghuvir Mahale expressed happiness as students were very much receptive and curious about plantation. They promised to organize similar plantation drives in schools.
