Alien, the movie, was a big hit back in 1979 and spawned a host of great sequels and spin-offs. (Yes, we love the usage there). They even made a ‘prequel’ of sorts in 2012, called Prometheus. Alien: Covenant is the sequel that that movie. Judging by what we’ve seen in the trailer, it’s simple. A group of people will encounter an alien, or three, and most of them will not make it out alive. Trust us, if you haven’t seen the Alien movies, you’ll realise that Ripley (played by Sigourney Weaver) was one lucky lady, resourceful, strong and smart, but lucky too! Michael Fassbender returns as the synthetic man, from Prometheus, and is aboard this spaceship on the run to some distant planet.
This is not the best trailer to be watching on the days after Christmas. We thought someone will put out a trailer to some romantic year end comedy that has 2000 actors and actresses from Hollywood, and will feature atleast 27 storylines. But we had to make do with Alien: Covenant, which is a good movie, but perhaps needed a less merry setting in which to launch (see what we did there?).
