A public transport bus of the State-owned Kadamba Transport Corporation suddenly caught fire in the middle of the road near Goa Medical College, Bambolim on Friday evening.
Two fire-tenders reached the spot and tried to douse the fire, but it wasn’t enough as the bus, which was travelling from Panaji to Vasco, was completely gutted.
Fortunately, the driver of the vehicle alerted the passengers when the fire broke out and all managed to get out.
Agassaim police station in-charge police inspector Uday Gawde said the incident has been registered as a fire accident and the exact cause is being ascertained.
The bus bearing GA-03-X-0352 registration number was headed to Vasco from Panaji and had 15-20 passengers on board.
