Adding to the drama of political uncertainties and number games, Tourism Minister and MGP leader Babu Agjaonkar has been given carte blanche by his influential aides to decide on his political course of action.
Insisting that Ajgaonkar was elected for development and not for his party, the heads of all seven panchayats and the Pernem Municipal Council (PMC) in Pernem constituency have supported the Pernem MLA to be associated with any party or group in power.
Pernem Municipal Council Chairperson Sharadha Mashelkar along with six sarpanchas, Bharat Gawde (Virnoda), Pradeep Parab (Varkhand), Sangeeta Gaokar (Vazari), Rosh Fernandes (Poraskadem), Baban D’Souza (Torsem), Santosh Malik (Hansapur) and Korgao Deputy Sarpanch Rangnath Kalshavkar were speaking
to reporters along the sidelines of a function in Pernem town.
Ajgaonkar had released sanction letters for the Laadli Laxmi scheme to beneficiaries and heads of all seven panchayats and the PMC met him and pledged their support to the stand taken
by him.
They assured to fully back Ajgaonkar to be on the side
of those in power in the government.
“The people of Pernem constituency elected Ajgaonkar for all-round progress of the constituency. In order to achieve this, he should remain in power,” said Virnoda sarpanch Bharat Gawde.
“We have elected Ajgaonkar for development and not for his party. Hence, we want him to focus on development and not on his party. We
advised him to be on the
side of those in power and
we will fully back him,” Gawde added.
With the backing of heads of all panchayats and PMC, Ajgaonkar will be in a stronger position to take a call on his support to the party or groups in power.
