Actress Madhuri Dixit says she landed her debut Bollywood role with 1984 film “Abodh” by chance. “There was a person Govind ji, who used to work for Rajshri Productions and his daughter was in the same class as my elder sister. In school, he knew that I used to dance, act in plays and give speeches. Then Rajshri had announced that a new film production will begin and they were looking for a young innocent face. That’s when he approached me,” she recalls, adding that her parents initally said no but changed their mind after they visited the office. “I still remember that they asked me to read a few lines from a book in Hindi to see if I had a Maharashtrian accent when speaking, but I didn’t,” she continues. “Then later I had a proper screen test and they asked me to dance.”
