At the end of a pleasant, but long, winding drive down to South Goa’s Guirdolim village, is an interesting collection of art, which may ease your levels of fatigue.
‘Life in Art’ is a multi-artiste exhibition which is currently on at the Achies Art Gallery, Guirdolim.
On offer here, are a wide range of installations and paintings by some of the top artistes, who are either Goan or have made Goa their abode.
On display are Mohan Naik’s bold works of oil with shepherds, farmers, goats and farms a subject he excels in. Naik’s colour schemes, especially the use of orange and yellow shades and warm pastel colours, symbolic of sunny Goa, are his signature in its own right.Also at the exhibition are the works of Aadhi Vishal, who is a freelance visual artist, who has a studio based in Goa and has many solo and group shows in art auctions in the country as well as abroad.
Katharina Poggendorf Kakar’s ‘Shrine of 7 mothers’ of fiberglass, copper, burned clay, cotton shawls, iron frame also makes it presence felt. Katharina is a writer based in Goa, India and has studied Comparative Religion, Anthropology and Indian Art History at the Freie Universität (Free University), Berlin/Germany.
Hitesh Pankar’s contemporary reminiscing works in acrylics, Harshada Kerkar’s dry pastels paintings in warm colours and Ramona Galardi’s calligraphic creations, etc. are some of the other works presented in the show.
