Local Goan coffee brand set for launch

Caravela Café and Bistro, after completing almost 5 successful years as one of the highest rated cafes in Goa, has now launched its own coffee brand ‘Latin Quarter’ in Goa along with the installation of a state-of-the-art Coffee Roaster for roasting green beans, grinding and packing its own line of coffee. ‘Latin Quarter’, is a Single Estate Arabica.

The green beans used at the café are single estate beans sourced from Coorg. The roaster and the café are managed by Carlos and Cyrus Noronha, both brothers who are trained to run the roaster and other coffee related activities.

There will be one type to start with -a medium dark roast single estate Arabica which will be available in bean and powder form at the café initially, and will be available in most stores in Goa within a month. The beans come from Coorg, India’s coffee capital. The green beans are then roasted in small lots to preserve all their flavors. With notes from fruity to earthy to chocolaty, this coffee is ideal by itself or with milk and can be enjoyed anytime of the day.

Carlos is now working on creating unique roasts of Arabica and Robusta which will appeal to all coffee lovers while Cyrus is working on a blend of Arabica and Robusta focusing on filter coffee. The coffee will be available in retail packs of 250gms. Institutional packs of 500 grams and 1 kg packs will be available for sale to cafes. Trade enquiries are welcome.

Coffee lovers in Goa now get a chance to taste freshly roasted and ground coffee. The can also view the roasting process if it is going on when they visit the café.

Caravela Café and Bistro has been consistently dishing out delectable fare whether it be all day English breakfasts, sandwiches, burgers , pizza and deserts. Coffee has always been a strong point of this café which has introduced some of Indias best coffees to Goa. With the introduction of its own line of coffee, the owners claim that it has become the first café in Goa to do so.

In addition to the Café, Carlos informs that there are rooms available for visitors under the brand name of Caravela Homestay in the same premises. The homestay services are also available at Caravela Apartments, serviced apartments at Candolim.
