Ever look back or foresee your future with the big, ‘What if’. These two words join together to form either the greatest hope or the biggest regret in one’s life. The purpose and dreams we strive for and choose are what defines us and our life as well. It makes us who we are.
As the saying goes, life should not be filled with regrets, only memories. Today is March fourth or ‘March forth’ as we like to say “ conveying action and moving forward.
A made up holiday, of course, the day was made to encourage people to pick up something, anything and just ‘do it!’ The idea is also, to choose something you really like doing or have been wanting to do and just doing it. The objective for today is to oppress the over-thinking and just do. Think about the ‘what if’ later.
Many a times, we say we want to do something. It could be a new hobby, a task, an errand, or basically anything. The idea of this excites us, but as the days go on, work, family commitments and life in general get in the way and we either forget about or choose not to go through with whatever it is that we’d wanted to do. Or we give it a lesser priority with the intention of picking it back up when we have some more free time, or perhaps retire.
Looking at the situation in two ways, a goal, if small and made without much attachment to it, doesn’t disturb or bother you, whether the goal is accomplished or not. But a goal that you have made your aim and aspiration will not only cause you to regret but also demotivate you to doing the other things or finishing other plans you had made.
One need not have big goals, but it is recommended to keep small daily tasks, devote some time to your hobby, indulge in a little gardening, write a small essay, etc. These things needn’t be a lot but just little things that would never get done if you didn’t devote any time to them. The completion of these small tasks, of course, gives one a sense of accomplishment, and slowly but surely, the habit of accomplishing all your other goals will set in.
This March fourth, we at The Goan pondered over this too... and we decided to do something !!!Looking back in life, I wish I could do more to protect and provide for pets that have been left neglected and abused. Animals are the sweetest things on earth, that literally we could get happiness from, without having much to invest in, other than our time and energy. I’ve made it my personal mission to being a rescuer and making sure they get good homes. My pet dog, was a neglected dog. He was left unattended and his health wasn’t well taken care of, until we adopted him. He’s a happy dog now, and the happiness that I get from talking care of him, and all my other rescued pets, is one of a kind. I would not exchange it for anything in the world. I look forward to continuing my rescuing.
” Sherlin Bejoy, PanajiThe one thing that keeps me focused towards facing the challenges life throws at me, is my desire to visit Paris atleast once in my life. That is the one reason why I’m teaching and have pursued a career associated with French. I have fallen in love with the city and it has been my one desire ever since.
