Singer Nicki Minaj has accused designer Giuseppe Zanotti of racism and disrespect on Twitter, claiming he has named shoe designs after her but refuses to take her calls to discuss any real collaborations. Zanotti’s high-top “Nicki” sneakers, which currently run between $500 and $700 in 23 different versions, were directly inspired by the rapper and singer, claims Nicki adding that she recalls meeting the designer whole told her that she inspired him. Minaj has appeared publicly wearing Zanotti’s sneakers“most notably, as she pointed out, on the cover of Cosmopolitan“and affectionately dubbed them “[her] sneaker” on her 2012 song 'Pound the Alarm'. She further claims that the calls the designer has worked with numerous other celebs on capsules, and is slighting her because of her race.
