It is going to be a concert to remember. On January 19, a concert called Roots of Fire will see the coming together of accomplished musicans -- legends in their own right. The evening promises to be magical as legendary Sarod maestro Ustad Amjad Ali Khan will pair up with the UK based Orchestra Sinfonia Verdi conducted by the internationally acclaimed David Murphy to create magic at the Kala Academy.
Under the aegis of the Deccan Heritage Foundation, the orchestral concert seeks to celebrate and inspire young, aspiring instrumentalists with a musical dialogue that has existed between the East and the West for over centuries. The performance will include works by Mozart, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan and David Murphy. Passes for the concert are available at Kala Academy, Panaji, Champs, Panaji, Gaspar Dias Club, Mira Mar, Delfino’s Porvorim and Candolim, Club Harmonia Margo and BSP Sports Club, Margao. Roots of Fire is a cultural education project that aims to inspire pride in local cultural heritage through music.
