The Green Ray Foundation (GRF), a non-government organization working to promote preservation of environment, had organized an essay writing State level inter “ collegiate competition in collaboration with St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa for the college students of Goa. The topic of the essay was “Innovative Ideas for Better Environment”.
Altogether, 49 students from 15 colleges from all over Goa participated in the competition and contributed enormous ideas to have better environment.
Philroy Reuben Dias of Rosary College of Commerce & Arts, Navelim won the first prize of Rs 10,000, Sachin Gaonkar of Govt. College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Khandola bagged the second prize of Rs. 7,500 and Ashvini Adinath Parab won the third prize of Rs. 5,000. Three consolation prizes of Rs. 2000 each were bagged by Shagufta Pradhan of Govt. College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Quepem, Megan Maria Barreto of Nirmala Institute of Education, Panjim and Chandrabhaga Patil of Govt. College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Sanquelim respectively. Besides cash prizes a memento and a certificate will also be presented to the winners.
The prize distribution function will be held on April 10 at 4pm at the Broadway Book Centre near Caculo Island Panjim. Fr (Dr) Jeronimo D’Silva, principal of St. Xavier’s College Mapusa will be the Chief Guest and will give away the prizes. Dr Dadapir M. Jakati, head of department of Geography, St. Xavier’s College Mapusa co-ordinated the Essay competition.
