Stories of food and more at PechaKucha

It’s all about stories about food and drinks at ‘PechaKucha’ volume 5 to be held at 7 pm on July 5 at ‘And So’ in Porvorim where 11 speakers will share their stories. The speakers are from all walks of life, from food growers to bakers, from alcohol alchemist to feni makers and from food designers to food critics. 

The bread whisperer Sujit Sumitran, India’s most talked about and written about sourdough baker will evangelise slow-fermented sourdough bread. Alcohol alchemist 

Desmond Nazareth, principal founder and managing director of Agave India will share his story. The tea sommelier Snigdha Manchanda, who has founded Tea Trunk and who perceives tea as a lifestyle and not a commodity, and who has been trained under Japanese tea master Nao Numekawa will talk on tea. 

Torn between food and travel, the award winning photojournalist Nolan Mascarenhas who has held multiple exhibitions and loves to capture the essence of a meal or moment through his lens will speak on his passion. Known for his restaurant Zuperb in Goa, Zubin Vazifdar who specialises in Parsi food, runs a Parsi Pop Up lunch once a month and has hi own home cooked Parsi food takeaway will talk on Parsi food. 

One of the speakers is pastry chef Kunal Arolkar, founder and head-chef at Foodybreaks Academy & Bakery in Porvorim who runs FB Academy Goa. Darryl D’Souza, pioneer in integrative medicine will share his inspiring story how he cured himself of his long sickness in just one year by using integrated natural therapies.

Sandeep Sridharan, founder Esca Brahma who runs a food blog and a design studio for delivering high end food to a group of people will share his culinary experiences.

Hansel Vaz who after working for nine years in oil fields of NZ, OZ, PNG, Brazil, Singapore, Malaysia, Dubai and Qatar quit it all and returned home to start Cazulo premium feni in 2012, shares amazing stories of his journey. Co-founder of Mustard, Puran Singh with her 31 years of experience in the retail and hospitality industry will speak on her myriad experiences as the CEO of Fine Foods Pvt Ltd that owns restaurant brands such as MOSHE’s.

The audience will also get an opportunity to listen to Drasty Shah, founder, ‘The Project Café that runs at two states, Gujarat and Goa. An MBA in hospitality from Johnson and Wales University, Drasty believes in the power of strengthening the community by building symbiotic enterprise models around people and empowering them. There would be an exciting event within the event called PechaKucha Networking where there would be various networking activities.
