Vir Das is one of India’s biggest stand-up comedians and is not a bad actor too. He’s funny everywhere, even on Twitter, as he comes up with a few lovely tongue in cheek comments now and then, about some current incident etc. His podcast is funny too, which brings us to the reason for this little feature.
Vir’s podcast is called #POTCAST, because he does it from his bathroom. Atleast we assume it is his bathroom. If he’s doing it from someone else’s bathroom, well, that would be a potty move, wouldn’t it? Anyway, it all starts with a flush, and then the topic at hand is discussed. This time around, it was ‘Dear Govt/Bhakts/Trolls - I have Questions’.
And he certainly does. Vir takes on the current tendency to ridicule, insult and troll people who ‘dare’ to question things, especially those who question Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The internet is full of people who worship the current PM and who live to take on people who have the ‘audacity’ say something against their hero. Vir certainly brings all this to light, while pointing out that every citizen has a right to question their government, their ministers and even the people around them. That’s the whole point of the democratic movement, right? Well, not if you go up against the ‘bhakts’ and others.
Social media has been a great medium to express your views, but it has become increasingly difficult to do that these days. Let’s hope Vir Das’ latest potcast wakes a few people up. You can watch it on the pot too! (We HAD to say that, come on!) Check it out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fx2xFI5TYpw, or scan the QR code.
