Artist Sonal Varshneya travels from the city of the the Taj Mahal, one of the seven wonders of the world, to the world’s eight wonder, Goa, to present her exhibition of etchings on paper.
The exhibition ‘Ambubachi: Etchings on Paper’ which got underway in February is on till March 15 and offers art enthusiasts a swell opportunity to immerse in a branch of art which deals with the iconographical representing images of Hindu Gods and Goddesses. The central theme of Sonal Varshneya’s works is essentially rooted in Hindu tradition and associated religious beliefs.
Sonal Varshneya has studied at Agra University with an emphasis on printmaking. She works with etching and aquatint on metal plates and later combines it with multiple applications. Her fascination for etching is for the strong lines and vivid textures which primarily forms the base of her works.
She has majored in Visual Arts from Agra itself and picked up the art of printmaking in the city of the Nawabs, Lucknow, where she interacted with major printmakers from across India and abroad. Her works of art have been showcased in major exhibitions and are part of private art collections.
