Imagine you are having dinner at the table and one of those irritating power-cuts snaps off all electricity around and you are left wondering whether you hand is hovering over your plate or over the plate of your companion.
Well, turns out a whacking new ‘dine in the dark’ concept converts such a dilemma into a full-fledged, although a bit mysterious, dining experience.
The Spice Studio, the in-house Indian speciality restaurant at the Alila Diwa Goa resort in Majorda, offers you a unique opportunity to dine in the dark every Thursday. On offer is a 100-mile radius Indian “thali” which you need to consume using all senses other that sight, because as the concept suggests, you have to eat in the dark.
What could well make such a concept popular is the fact that in absence of sight, our other senses, namely taste, smell, sound and touch need to adequately compensate and therefore are more heightened and sensitive, in turn leading to a gastronomic sensory experience.
Although it sounds like a lot of fun, children below the age of 12 will not be allowed into the restaurant during the ‘Dine in the Dark’ day.
