Delivering a brilliant performance before an audience requires two things: a combination of talent and hard work, and the right platform to present one’s skills. Goa has no dearth of good talent, and now Big Daddy Entertainment is set to provide a great platform to put Goan talent on the national entertainment scene. ‘Our Stage Your Talent’ is a unique contest being organised by Big Daddy Entertainment to not just provide a platform but also employment opportunities to local talent. The contest will test local talent across six different categories of performing arts including dance, music, and stand up comedy.
Explaining what sets this talent platform apart from others, director of Big Daddy Entertainment, Zabyn Khan elaborates: “Goa has a lot of talent. Many high-profile events do happen in Goa, but many times, local people cannot avail of these opportunities due to financial or other difficulties. Also, talented Goans are forced to look for jobs outside the state. We believe that Goans should find good opportunities in their own homeland. With OSYT, we aim to provide a high-level platform to local talent. Secondly, the goal of the contest is not just to provide exposure, but also employment opportunities,” she states, adding that the contest is open to performers above the age of 18 across all genres and languages, the only other criterion being that they should be Goans.
“To be honest, talent is invaluable. You cannot put a price on it. There has been a wide discussion about the relationship between talent and money. It is finally upto the artist or artiste to decide where to draw the line between business and talent,” says Khan while reflecting on how talent can be a source of good career. “Earning money through your talent will bring happiness, but you should not focus only on talent and ignore business or become extremely business-minded. There has to be a balance between the two,” she states.
Registration for OSYT has opened on July 31. Offline registration can be done at Mall de Goa, while Big Daddy website www.bigdaddy.in. The initial rounds to select the top 20 contestants will be held from August 26 to 28, and the semifinals and finals in September. The winner will receive a cash prize of Rs 3 lakh, and an opportunity to work with Big Daddy Entertainment. The best band will also receive a Band of Sands award.
The contest will be judged by eminent Goans from different fields along with celebrity Bollywood choreographer Geeta Kapoor.
