At the village of Adpai in Ponda, stray cattle menace continues to be a serious matter till date. Cattle proceed along the road on regular basis and vehicular traffic, especially pillion riders are confronted with great inconvenience and trouble.
During night time the situation worsens to a great extent and there is every possibility of serious mishaps taking place thereby resulting in adverse consequences for innocent travellers proceeding along the road.
Very often cattle are noticed squatted on the road adjacent to the Goa State Co-operative Bank Ltd. and also near the premises of the local village panchayat, viz the VP of Adpai-Durbhat. The bovines proceed along the road at ‘Dessai-Bhat’ area on most occasions.
Although public at large have been put to great hardship by this growing menace, the VP has not initiated any favourable action in order to restrict the same. Even the local MLA Sudin Dhavalikar has failed to come to the rescue of vehicle riders whose lives remain at a great risk.
Although the Directorate of Panchayats as a competent authority has been instructing the VP’s in the state to build cattle pounds for accommodating the impounded cattle, no positive action has come to the forefront from the VP of Adpai-Durbhat till date.
Tackling this menace with a iron hand has been the real need of the hour and the VP of Adpai-Durbhat needs to accept this challenge in the interest of travellers and pedestrians alike.
