Reginaldo elated over staff & new responsibility?

GUILHERME ALMEIDA | MAY 14, 2022, 12:13 AM IST

When in the Congress, Curtorim MLA Reginaldbab had virtually gone pleading with leaders to persuade Diggu to spare at least one staff to run his office as the Opposition leader was entitled to office staff.

In the changing political scenario, Reginaldbab now seemed content and happy that he is now entitled to not just one, but over a dozen staffers as Chairman of the GIDC. He may have missed the Cabinet bus, but the four-time Independent MLA, for the moment, Reginaldbab seemed contended, enjoying power, perhaps for the first time in his career spanning a decade and half. Any questions?

Ghar Wapsi? Pratima under Cong scanner

The irrepressible Pratimabai Coutinho seemed to have come under the scanner of Congress leaders. A section of Congressmen seemed closely watching Pratimabhai’s moves, against the backdrop that she has been lying low after her defeat in Navelim on the AAP banner. Whether she is interested in returning back to the Congress fold or not remains unknown, but one thing is clear that a section of the State Congress leadership appears not keen in disturbing the Mahila Congress leadership at least for the moment. Wait and watch.

Venzy gets offensive against archrival

Playing defensive post-election result, Capt Venzybab showed signs of going on an offensive against his arch political rival. This became evident when he descended at Colva during the launching of the road hot mixing works. Since his election, the Benaulim MLA had preferred not to join issues with the Alemao clan, refusing to get provoked when Churchillbab’s nephew Warren went around to tell the whole world that the ongoing works were initiated by the ex-MLA. That Venzybab descended at Colva, knowing well that Warren too would be around, indicates the Capt is bracing up for a strike.

Post-polls: Wilfred down, but not out

Where’s Congress-turned-BJP-turned-Independent Wilfred aka Babashan? Nothing has been heard from the ex-Nuvem MLA after his defeat in the 2022 Assembly polls. Well, Babashan is very much in his home village Nuvem, but has apparently preferred to maintain low profile post-election result. No doubt, he has been lying low, but, unlike many a defeated candidate, Babashan’s office still remains open. He may have been down after the defeat, but if sources are to be believed, the former Nuvem MLA is still not out of politics. Wait and watch.

No B’day celebrations this time at Varca

There isn’t going to be any celebrations at Varca, the home village of strongman Bab Churchill on his birthday earlier next week. Sources say the former PWD Minister is going out of station during the weekend and is expected to return home only in June. Churchillbab has been devoting more time on sports than politics after his defeat in the Assembly polls at the hands of giant killer Venzybab Viegas. Churchillbab hasn’t yet called it a day in politics, though he had announced plans to retire after the 2022 polls. Wait and watch.
