Hazard a guess how did Prime Minister Narendrabai Modi react when he came across Margao MLA Digambarbab Kamat as he went about exchanging pleasantries with the select dignitaries before he took the dais at the Nehru stadium for the National games inaugural. His ardent supporters may affectionately call Diggu as their “Baba”, but for the Prime Minister, the Margao MLA is a Maharaja. The PM is reported to have asked Diggu “Kaisa hai Maharaja’’ before greeting other dignitaries. Ask Diggu over the PM’s compliment, and do not be surprised with a reply from the Cong-turned-BJP MLA that his relationship with Modiji dates two decades back when he was in the BJP, holding reins of Power department.
