Many might have expected the Congress to take on the BJP-led government after the prosecution opposed Minister Mauvinbab Godinho’s plea for discharge in the power rebate scam. It is understandable for the government to oppose Mauvinbab’s plea in the South Goa Sessions court for his discharge. Political observers, however, say that nothing could have prevented the principal opposition party to capitalize on the situation to embarrass the government for opposing an application moved by its very own minister in the court.
