The Congress has made a last-ditch attempt to go all out and retain the Curtorim seat by roping in national party leader Rahul Gandhi in support of party candidate Moreno Rebello. No doubt, Curtorim has been a Congress bastion over the years, barring 1994 and 2007 when party veteran Francisco Sardinha had lost the elections. Take note, Independent candidate, Reginaldo Lourenco, who is back in the reckoning in Curtorim after shuttling parties as an independent, had started his political career by defeating the Congress in its bastion a decade and a half ago.
