All’s not well in Oppn camp? Parties meet Gov minus GFP

Guess how come Goa Forward went unrepresented when a delegation of Opposition parties called on Governor Sreedharan Pillai to express their concern over the communal virus raising its ugly head in the State. Well, if political observers are to be believed, it was the Opposition’s way of conveying a signal loud and clear to the Goa Forward and party Chief Vijaibab Sardesai not to take them for granted. On Gandhi Jayanti, Vijaibab along with Congress leader Girishbab Chodankar and members of the civil society had descended at the Lohia Maidan to take a pledge against communalism. That the Opposition comprising of Congress, RG and AAP MLAs called on the governor a day later on the same issue, minus the Goa Forward, suggests all is not well in the opposition camp.

Kept away from meet with Gov, GF dares Cong to break alliance

What was Goa Forward Party’s reaction when the Opposition descended at Raj Bhavan to meet Governor S Pillai earlier this week? If sources are to be believed, the Goa Forward leadership was left fuming over being sidelined by the other Opposition parties. Though party leaders sought to downplay the episode in pubic, sources said party leaders including Vijaibab Sardesai in private seemed bracing up to call spade a spade. Vijaibab is believed to have even dared the Congress party to break the alliance with the regional party. Wait and watch.

Vijai’s presence and absence of Oppn MLAs at Jayanti prog raise eyebrows

Is the Opposition move to lead a delegation to Governor S Pillai minus Goa Forward a tit-for-tat answer to the leadership of the regional party over the Lohia Maidan programme held on Gandhi Jayanti? Well, Goa Forward chief Vijaibab Sardesai and party leaders along with ex-GPCC chief Girishbab Chodankar were the prominent faces at the Lohia Maidan programme organised by the civil society to condemn communalism. Why the other Opposition MLAs were conspicuous by their absence at the Lohia Maidan had raised many an eyebrow amongst political observers. Questions indeed remain unanswered.

Developments in Oppn fuels revival of old enmity between Vijai & Yuri

The unfolding developments in the Opposition camp may revive the old enmity between the Goa Forward party leadership and Leader of Opposition, Yuribab Alemao. For, a section of the Goa Forward seemed pointing accusing fingers at the Opposition leader for not keeping party leader Vijaibab Sardesai in the loop when they called on Governor S Pillai. There’s been no love lost between the Opposition leader and the Goa Forward leadership, after Yuribab quit the regional party to embrace the Congress in the run up to the 2022 Assembly polls. Wait and watch.

CM’s presence at Reginaldo’s b’day ‘stamps’ BJP’s acknowledgement

Independent MLA Reginaldbab Lourenco celebrated a quite birthday without much fanfare at his Curtorim residence on Thursday. A host of VIPs, however, were believed to have descended at Curtorim to extend wishes to the four-time MLA. That Chief Minister Pramodbab Sawant took time off from his busy schedule to head to Curtorim to extend birthday wishes to Reginaldbab is indicative of the saffron brigade’s acknowledgement of support by the Independent MLA. Incidentally, CM Pramodbab and then BJP Minister Michaelbab Lobo had around three years ago predicted at Reginaldbab’s birthday that the Curtorim MLA would one day find a place in the Council of Ministers. Is Reginaldbab still nursing hope of induction in the Pramodbab Sawant Cabinet or is he content with the IDC? Any questions?

Diggubab and Vijaibab find no reason to exchange pleasantries

Alliance partners-turned-political foes, Cong-turned-BJP Margao MLA Digambar Kamat and Goa Forward Chief Vijaibab Sardesai were the cynosure of all eyes at the Mission Rabies programme during the weekend. The reason was not far too seek. Many a political observer anxiously waited to see whether the duo would exchange pleasantries and talk to each other at the event. Though the duo were found standing close to each other and even held the flag with the District Collector…
