With guns falling silent on the India-Pak border following a ceasefire, ruling BJP MLAs may now look forward for the much-awaited Goa Cabinet rejig. Sources, however, say it may take some time for the Cabinet reshuffle to take place, given that the top BJP leadership, comprising of Prime Minister Narendrabai Modi, Home Minister Amitbai Shah and Party chief J P Nadda, are still preoccupied with the nitty-gritties post-Operation Sindoor. Sources say the Cabinet rejig will take place only after CM Pramodbab Sawant and party chief Damubab Naik are called to the national capital. Wait and watch.
Opening Cong doors for other party leaders sparks debate
Opening party doors for leaders of other parties has sparked a debate of sorts in the Congress party. Anti-Kamat camp plots Margao strategy for 2026 civic elections
Anti-Digambar Kamat forces seemed bracing up to corner the seven-time MLA on his home turf Margao. Opponents, sources said, are reported to have drawn up a strategy to take on Diggu’s might, not in the 2027 Assembly election, but in the civic polls due in early 2026. Given that the municipal polls are not held on party lines, detractors of the Congress-turned-BJP MLA in private say they are working on a plan to make inroads into Diggu’s fiefdom by winning a couple of seats in the municipal polls, before they all join hands to storm his bastion in 2027. Wait and watch.
Vijai demands say in Sonsodo plan, reminds govt of Fatorda jurisdiction
It was a week when Goa Forward chief Vijai Sardesai flexed his muscles over being sidelined by the powers that be in matters pertaining to Sonsodo. What seemed to have left the Fatorda MLA agitated was that he has not been taken in the loop over moves to implement Urban Forest scheme at Sonsodo or ONGC’s plans to set up a waste treatment plant at the site. He has reminded the powers that be that Sonsodo falls in Fatorda and no project will be allowed at the site sans taking him and Fatordkars into confidence. Any questions.
Churchill celebrates 76th b’day, eyes return to Benaulim in 2027
Varca strongman Bab Churchill has turned 76 on Friday. Though the birthday celebrations were held on low key at his residence, family, friends and well-wishers descended at Varca to extend their wishes. Scribes took the platform to find out Churchillbab’s political plans and whether the former Benaulim MLA will throw his hat in the 2027 election ring. In his inimitable style, Churchillbab thundered there’s no retirement age in politics, saying Karunaniddi had presided over affairs in Tamil Nadu till the age of 86, saying he has turned only 76, making it clear he would contest the 2027 assembly election from Benaulim. Any questions?
